Adrenocortical Hormone (17-Ketosteroids) Change in the Patients Complaining of Pharyngeal Paresthesia

Abstract
The cases of pharyngeal paresthesia have a increasing tendency year by year.
Up to now local, general physical, and psychologic factors have been discussed as the etiological factors of pharyngeal paresthesia.
At this point it is important to find out the etiological factors with understanding the characteristic features in the cases.
Author studied the change of adrenocortical function as a general physical factor. The results are as follows;
1) The statistics from Jan. 1962 to Dec. 1941 shows no significant difference between both sexes.
2) The cases of pharyngeal paresthesia show ever growing numbers from 0.7% in 1962 to 3.1% in 1971
3) The pharyngeal paresthesia is more frequent in the age group between 21 to 40.
4) The urinary 17-Ketosteroids show a significant increase in the cases of pharyngeal paresthesia, and author confirmed the increased adrenocortical activity.
And author considered this fact as a general physical factor contributing to the cause of pharyngeal paresthesia.
